NWS Volunteer Positions Available
The National Weather Service (NWS) offices in Hastings, NE and Omaha, NE will be offering student volunteer positions this spring (summer and fall positions are an option as well). Depending on the location you select, there are fully in-person, fully virtual, and hybrid options. These positions offer students the opportunity to interact directly with the NWS forecast staff. Students will learn about the goals and objectives of the NWS, and have the opportunity to work on a local research project. The Hastings office strongly recommends attending at least part-time in person to allow you to see day-to-day operations and to give you a chance to visit a weather radar, river gauges, etc.
The application deadline for the Omaha position is Saturday, October 15th, 2022.
The application deadline for the Hastings position is Monday, October 24th, 2022.
