Hello Meteorology-Climatology Majors,
I hope that you are doing well as the break from classes comes to a close or that you are doing well in your Spring 2025 Pre-Session course. Remember, Monday, January 20th is a holiday, so UNL will be closed. This means that the semester will start on Tuesday, January 21st rather than Monday, January 20th. It also means that the last day to add, drop, or change classes will be Tuesday, January 28th rather than Monday, January 27th.
Now is a great time to set yourself up for success for the full Spring 2025 semester. Whether this is your first semester or you’re nearing graduation, small steps at the start can make a big difference.
Here are some practical tips to help you make the most of the months ahead:
1. Set Clear Goals: Write down what you want to achieve this semester - whether it’s improving your grades, joining a club, or managing your time better. Having a clear focus will keep you motivated.
2. Stay Organized: Use a planner or digital tools to keep track of assignments, deadlines, and events. Staying on top of your schedule will reduce stress and help you stay ahead.
3. Ask for Help Early: Don’t wait until you feel overwhelmed. Reach out to professors, advisors, or campus resources like the tutoring center if you need support.
4. Take Care of Yourself: Balance is key. Make time for exercise, healthy meals, and sleep so you have the energy to stay focused.
5. Try Something New: This is a great time to explore opportunities outside the classroom - join a club, attend campus events, or volunteer. These experiences can help you build skills and connections.
Remember, every semester is a chance to learn and grow - not just academically, but personally too. If things don’t go as planned, don’t be discouraged. Success comes from showing up, doing your best, and being willing to adapt.
Your professors, classmates, the entire campus community, and I are here to help you succeed. Don’t hesitate to reach out - we’re all in this together. Here’s to a semester filled with discovery, progress, and success. You’ve got this!
