Purpose:
The Mesonet Manager Professional with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension is responsible for the installation and ongoing maintenance of a new 26-station weather monitoring network (mesonet) across Maine. Installation of the Maine Mesonet will require testing and calibrating equipment and frequent in-state travel. This work will be done through the Maine Climate Office in collaboration with the Maine State Climatologist, and will also include partnerships with colleagues within Cooperative Extension, the UMaine Climate Change Institute, and often in coordination with state and federal entities and private landowners. This is a 12-month, full-time position located in Orono, ME.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Overseeing the testing, calibration, and installation of at least 26 weather stations that will become the new statewide Maine Mesonet.
• Responsible for managing day-to-day operations, and conducting routine and emergency sensor and equipment maintenance across the Maine Mesonet.
• Engage with end-users and stakeholders of Maine Mesonet data and products.
• Serve as a point of contact and interacting with site hosts, local media, partners, and users regarding Maine Mesonet operations, research, and outreach.
• Representing the Maine Mesonet and Maine Climate Office at professional meetings and trade shows.
• Travel, normally requiring a valid driver's license.
• Occasionally lift 30 to 50 pounds.
• Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned.
