In 32 interviews conducted with MTEP 2.0 teams during the spring of 2023, individuals related a variety of ways in which they received credit for their work with MTEP 2.0. Descriptions of the relationships between job responsibilities and MTEP work ranged from jobs that “[overlap] with MTEP” to MTEP activities that “fall heavily under normal job responsibilities.” Many stated that they included their MTEP activities on their annual reports, but they included it in different places—under service, outreach, or research—and some included conference presentations related to MTEP. A number of the respondents felt that their work with MTEP was positively recognized by their departments, including in consideration for tenure. One individual reported that their work under the MTEP brand (with NSF funding) built recognition of their department as a leader in diversity, equity, and inclusion work across their campus. However, a few related that they really didn’t receive any specific recognition for their MTEP work. How are you working to build recognition for your work with MTEP 2.0?
