April NIC-Cast: Discussion Groups: Exploring Solutions to Common Problems of Practice in Secondary Mathematics Teacher Preparation
Add to calendar
In this session, participants will have an opportunity to discuss common problems of practice with others involved or interested in the MTEP project. These discussions will build on the discussions from the 2024 MTEP Conference at AMTE:

  • Equity, Diversity, Inclusion – e.g., teaching practices and indicators for equity-based instruction; diversity of candidates
  • Recruitment Strategies – e.g., gathering information on effective practices; collaborations with high schools or community colleges; transfer students
  • Partnership Building – e.g., expanding partners to include additional institutions, including community colleges, minority-serving institutions, and other universities; strengthening school partnerships; PLCs with K-12 partners
  • Supporting Graduates as They Enter the Profession – e.g., preparation of a database of credential graduates; teacher retention through mentoring.
  • Getting to Know MTEP 2.0 and the Networked Improvement Community Design – e.g., an opportunity to continue conversations with MTEP leaders and others new to, or interested in learning more about, MTEP.
In addition, we will have an additional discussion on:

  • Aligning (but not Duplicating) Your MTEP Work With Program Assessment – This may be of most interest to MTEP members who are charged with program accreditation.
Note that this previously-announced topic for the April NIC-Cast is now the final discussion group.
