1. Application for the NCESR 2025 Energy Sciences Research – Summer Internships for UNL Undergraduates will be posted in October 2024 to the NCESR website and UNL Handshake. (Handshake is the place for UNL students to engage with employers and search/apply for internships, co-ops, part/full-time jobs, work-study, and campus employment.) Also, NCESR will email the information to the NCESR listserv and submit it to several UNL electronic newsletters to promote the internships. Watch for more details about the new collaboration between NCESR and the UNL Summer Research Program that will provide more resources and opportunities to the selected NCESR Summer Interns in 2025! 2. The principal investigators with the NCESR Cycle 18 seed research grants will present project updates to the NCESR Progress Review Committee on 10/24/2024, which will determine the Cycle 18 projects that will receive Year 2 funding. NPPD liaisons are committee members.
3. NCESR is going through a stringent process to determine what projects to fund for the Cycle 19 seed research grants. External reviewers evaluate the full proposals. The NCESR Executive Council (EC) reviews the external evaluations and then listens to the principal investigators present their proposals on 11/12/2024. The EC will rank the proposals and provide their suggestions for funding to the NCESR External Advisory Committee (EAC). The EAC will meet on 12/18/2024 to make the final funding decision for the Cycle 19 seed research grant awards. NPPD liaisons are EC members and several NPPD professionals are EAC members.
