On May 8, 2025, NPPD’s board of directors unanimously approved a five-year extension to the agreement with UNL to conduct energy related research. The agreement extension covers the period from April 1, 2026, through March 31, 2031. During the agreement extension period, NPPD will provide $1.5 million annually, totaling $7.5 million. Concurrent with NPPD’s commitment, UNL will provide an additional $750,000 annually for $3,750,000. With this agreement extension, NPPD’s engagement with UNL on energy-related research now covers 25 years. UNL Chancellor Rodney Bennett and Interim Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation Jennifer Nelson expressed their appreciation for NPPD’s support of this partnership with a letter of appreciation to NPPD’s board of directors.
