Applications are open for Young Nebraska Scientists (YNS) camps throughout the state in 2021, including:

FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS:
July 19-21: The Secret Life of Metals – Creighton University; Omaha, NE

FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS:

June 1 – 2 Chemistry and Nanoscience Behind Renewable Energy Technologies Camp (online only), University of Nebraska - Lincoln

June 7 – 11 NEW! Small but Mighty: A Hands-on Investigation of Viruses and Bacteria Camp – Bellevue University; Bellevue, NE

June 21 – 24 Explorations in Biology Camp – Nebraska Wesleyan University; Lincoln, NE

For more than 12 years, each summer 100+ youths attend YNS camps, which include hands-on science experiences and recreation opportunities at college campuses throughout Nebraska. YNS camp fees include meals and lodging, except online and day camps (see yns.nebraska.edu/camps for specifics). Application deadline is May 1 for YNS 2021 camps.

Applications close March 20 for YNS High School Researchers (juniors and seniors), with paid eight-week summer jobs in the labs of university scientists. YNS HSRs opportunities are mainly based in Lincoln, but NEW this year, there is one opportunity at UNO.

YNS is conducted by Nebraska EPSCoR to encourage youth participation in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) learning and careers. National Science Foundation funding via OIA-1557417 helps keep YNS camp fees low; need-based scholarships for YNS camps are readily available. Faculty from Nebraska colleges and universities are camp leaders, and camp staff include university students.
