Official summer registration at UNL opens March 1. In a few weeks, we will release the 2021 schedule for the Nebraska Math and Science Summer Institutes (NMSSI). The mathematics courses will appear first with science courses soon to follow, so keep checking for updates. Instructors are continuing to be confirmed as well.
We are offering at least 19 courses designed with K-12 math and science teachers in mind, using either an asynchronous online format ("on demand" style) or a synchronous web conferencing format ("live" on Zoom, with potential for hybrid in-person). You can see the tentative schedule here: https://www.math.unl.edu/mat-schedule and look for the 2021 Schedule button in red.
For all synchronous, web conferencing format NMSSI courses, current Nebraska teachers automatically qualify for a tuition fellowship from UNL equal to 20 percent of resident graduate tuition. Additionally, Nebraska K-12 teachers can apply for supplemental NMSSI Fellowships to further defray tuition costs for NMSSI courses (funds are limited). Details will be posted on the NMSSI website. (Unfortunately, the 20 percent tuition discount does not apply to the asynchronous online courses; but teachers who register for these courses are still eligible to apply for the NMSSI tuition fellowships to help defray tuition costs.)
Tuition costs for summer 2021 will be updated on the "How much does a course cost?" page at the NMSSI website soon.
