The Forty-Third annual Metropolitan Science and Engineering Fair (MSEF) will be returning to an in-person format this year! For those of you that were with us last year, we thank you for your time and expertise in addition to your flexibility with the virtual version of the fair. And for those not with us last year, we hope to welcome you and your expertise to the judging ranks. As we return to in-person judging, we are planning for the event to be both an enjoyable and an enriching experience for our MSEF students.
We are currently recruiting volunteer judges for this year’s fair and we are especially hopeful you can assist as a judge! The DEADLINE to SIGN UP is February 3, 2022.
The event will take place at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium on Thursday, March 3rd. Please plan for approximately 7:45am to Noon on this day for initial judging, final round judging, and deliberations. Exact times, judging materials, and assigned projects will be sent at a later date. MSEF will be following CDC guidelines, so, as of now, all MSEF participants (students, judges, and other volunteers) would be required to wear masks indoors.
Volunteer judges will be needed for both Junior and Senior Division projects. Categories include, but are not limited to the following: Biology/Botany, Chemistry/Environmental Science, Medicine & Health/Life Science, Earth & Space Science/Geology, Engineering, Physics, Math/Computer Science.
There will be an awards ceremony on Saturday, March 19. The details of the ceremony will be announced later, but please know that this is NOT mandatory for judges to attend.
