Research shows that the movement from teacher to teacher leader requires a serious identity shift, but as Dr. Kelsey Quaisley of Oregon State University and her co-authors (Rachel Funk and Wendy M. Smith of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Brett Criswell of West Chester University) acknowledge in their blog, “not enough research exists that delves deeply into how this identity shift occurs, particularly the mechanisms underlying it.” Using the rock cycle as a metaphor, they explore the identity development of STEM teacher leaders throughout (and beyond) their participation in Noyce Track 3 Master Teaching Fellowship projects.
