Attend a two-week Physics-Mechanics Modeling Workshop at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. The workshop will take place June 23-July 3 at the University of Nebraska-Omaha in the Durham Science Center.
This immersive two-week workshop equips high school physics teachers with research-based instructional strategies rooted in Modeling Instruction, a pedagogy that aligns with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and cognitive science principles. Focusing on mechanics, participants will engage in hands-on, data-driven activities that develop conceptual models, enhance student-centered learning, and integrate experimental design and data analysis. Teachers will experience Modeling Instruction firsthand, refine curriculum materials, and explore effective scaffolding techniques to deepen student understanding. Through collaboration and inquiry-based learning, participants will leave with practical tools and strategies to enrich any physics program.
Teachers are also able to earn graduate-level credit during this workshop. The credits available through University of Pacific. Go to the AMTA website to register and learn more about the instructor, Judy Stucky.
Cost to register is $900, but Omaha teachers will receive a discount with special code. The last day to register is May 24.
