The Nebraska Association of Teachers of Science honored Dr. David Harwood with the 2015 Catalyst Award for his contributions to science education in Nebraska at the NATS Fall Conference on Sept. 24, 2015. Dr. Harwood, a Professor in UNL's Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, has led the U.S. research team and was the U.S. Principal Investigator on the NSF-supported international Antarctic Geological Drilling (ANDRILL) Program. The ANDRILL Program included an acclaimed education and public outreach program during the 4th International Polar Year. Dr. Harwood is active in teacher professional development in inquiry-based learning, and has led 14 inquiry-based geology field courses for pre- and in-service teachers since 2004. Congratulations!
