Submissions are now open for the 2024 One Teen Story Contest. I’d like to encourage Nebraska Writing Project Young Writers Camp students and alumni to participate. Through November 27th, 2023, writers ages 13-19 are encouraged to enter their original, unpublished fiction. They are interested in great short stories of any genre—literary, fantasy, sci-fi, love stories, and horror.
The winning stories will be published in forthcoming issues of One Teen Story, which will reach over ten thousand readers. The contest winners will receive $500 upon publication and 25 copies of the magazine featuring their work. The contest winners will also work with a One Teen Story editor prior to publication. Honorable mentions will be chosen in three age categories: 13-15, 16-17, and 18-19, and each will be announced on our website, by email announcement, and on social media.
One Teen Story is an award-winning, quarterly lit magazine. Each issue features just one short story. They are committed to featuring young voices that are unique and inspiring. This project is funded by the NEA, and is a great way for your students and alumni to practice submitting work and to possibly reach a wide audience of readers.
If you would be interested in having a look at a previous contest winner, “Locker Room Talk” by Elliot Park, send your mailing address to custserv@one-story.com, and they will provide you with a copy free of charge.
Please share the One Teen Story contest with your students and writing community. You can learn more about how to submit to the contest and read the complete submission guidelines at the supporting link. For other questions, please contact custserv@one-story.com!
