The Bess Streeter Aldrich Foundation is hosting two writing contests and will create a future exhibit to encourage and promote writing in Nebraska.
First, the poetry and shot story writing contests are open for submissions. These contests are intended for writers from 3rd grade to adults, and there are four separate divisions. Cash prizes are funded through the Syracuse Library Foundation. Submissions should be submitted electronically at http://www.bessstreetaldrich.org, and are open until April 15.
Secondly, next spring, the beautiful 1922 prairie mansion of Bess Streeter Aldrich House will embrace and promote poetry. Designed specifically to appeal to children, decorators will transform Mrs. Aldrich's home and honor poetry through innovative displays, the integration of technology, and incorporation of poetry. Teachers are invited to bring students on a field trip from February 1 to May 19. The Bess Streeter Aldrich House is located at 204 East F. Street in Elmwood, Nebraska.
