The Nebraska Writing Project welcomes its newest board member, Dr. Jillian Harpster! Jillian is an associate professor of practice with the Teaching, Learning & Teacher Education department at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. She taught grades 9-12 English for 9 years at Lincoln North Star High School. Jillian's connection with the Nebraska Writing Project began her first year of teaching, when her then-department chair had different individuals in the department do EQUIPs during department meetings. Being positioned as a writer and an inquisitive educator were both things that deeply influenced Jillian's path as an educator. Since that time, Jillian has taken part in an embedded institute at North Star High School—where she was able to grow as a writer alongside teachers across curricular areas-- and she has worked with Husker Writers and C3WP both as a teacher and as a teacher facilitator. In her new position as a teacher educator, Jillian looks forward to connecting early career teachers with NeWP!
