Retro Gaming week runs from February 10-14 in Love Library.

Calling all gamers. Get ready to gear up for the biggest battle of retro gaming. For one week Love Library will celebrate Retro Gaming: Love Data Week with an interactive and educational exhibit. From February 10-14, laptops will be set up in the Love Library’s Link with old arcade games from LSD: Dream Emulator to Dr. Mario and more. Feel free to drop in and play.

Feeling up to a challenge? Each day from 1 to 2 p.m., a student will be selected to face off against a pro library staff member. Can you beat their score? With new games to explore and exciting new competitions each day, you aren’t going to want to miss this.

In addition, two talks will be given on Feb. 11 & 13 in the Link. The first, “Game Software Preservation, Emulation, and Copyright,” will discuss the history and challenges that go into preserving this software. The second talk, “Game Cartridge Backup Demonstration,” will be a demonstration on backing up your games and files to specialty hardware. Both talks support preserving retro gaming and recognize the importance these games hold in our technology’s history.
