Three ideas to create a good study space for remote learning

Creating a good study space can help you focus on your academic goals.
Creating a good study space can help you focus on your academic goals.

We won’t pretend this list is new or even a miraculous home creation. We compiled it the same way you would - with a quick google search. We did the heavy work to look this stuff up so you can concentrate on finishing the semester strong and successful.

Here's three ideas to create a good study space:

Get comfortable – but not too comfortable.
Locate a spot where you can sit upright and have adequate lighting. Dress in daytime clothes. Don’t lay in bed, in a reclined position, or wear pajamas, as you'll be prone to fall asleep.

Get organized, stock up and make it pleasant.
Before your class’s start time, gather the supplies you need to participate – books, pencil, notepad, etc. You will stay focused on class without constantly jumping up to get a forgotten item. Bring water (but save snacks for breaks). Add a small personal item that brings joy, like a house plant or a photo.

Remove distractions and create rules.
We admit this one can be tough, yet you must keep focused on learning. No mobile devices, no social media, and hang a do-not-disturb sign on the door. If you have to share space with someone else, set some common rules beforehand so you can both be successful.
