Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is debuting three new drop-in therapy groups for students this month. If the stress of courses, the pandemic, or life in general are impacting you, CAPS is here to help. Check out the descriptions below to see if they may help you!
Sessions beginning in March include:
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (or DBT) will help you be more effective in managing difficult emotions and urges, as well as responding to life’s ups and downs. Through mindfulness, you’ll help increase awareness of personal thoughts and emotions.
Weekly sessions begin Tuesday, March 2 at 9 a.m. - Creating Emotional Connection is a group to help participants enhance and deepen relationships by learning to validate, by attending to non-verbal signaling, and by increasing vulnerable self-disclosures.
This session is offered at noon on Wednesday, March 3 and March 10. - Stress Management will help students to learn new or additional skills to manage stress in an effective way. Experiencing stress is a normal part of life and can even be healthy at times. This group will help learn ways to manage the stress before it becomes too overwhelming.
This two-week group will take place at 1 p.m. March 4 and March 11.
Groups like Pandemic Resilience and Assertiveness Skills, which began at the start of the spring semester, will continue to be offered as well. For a complete list of CAPS group drop-in sessions and access to the virtual links, view the upcoming group schedule.
