Explore and Understand: Hunger

Food insecurity is defined as the disruption of food intake or eating patterns because of lack of resources-financial and otherwise. USDA defines food insecurity as a lack of consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. Food insecurity can lead to poor performance in work and/or school as well as other long-lasting effects.

Food Bank of Lincoln

The Food Bank of Lincoln is recruiting individuals to volunteer at the Food Bank of Lincoln Hunger Solutions Center on Friday, Oct. 7 & 21 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Friday, Oct. 14 & 28 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Each day will be limited to 15 people per 2-hour shift and volunteers will assist with organizing food donations and distributing food to community members.

Connection Point is recruiting volunteers to assist their food pantry on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 11 & 18 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 7, 14 & 21 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Each day will be limited to 5 people per shift.
