Every Husker should adopt key habits to set themselves up for a successful semester. Follow these tips from the Center of Academic Success & Transition (CAST) to help you stay on track and find academic success this spring.

  • Go to class and engage in discussions.

  • Set yourself up for a healthy school-life balance. Use this weekly study schedule to block out time for studying, jobs/internships, social activities, and self-care.

  • Use your planner, smart phone, or this free syllabi matrix to input deadlines for papers, quizzes and tests.

  • Get to know your classmates – they could become new friends and potential study partners.

  • Attend weekly academic success workshops focused on topics, such as time management, note taking, class presentations and test preparation.

  • For 1-on-1 help with these strategies, schedule an appointment with an Academic Success Coach.

  • Check in with your instructors often. Attend office hours or schedule an appointment to discuss class performance and ask questions.

  • Find a good study spot. Check out these great places to hit the books on campus.

  • Prepare for upcoming exams and projects well in advance. If you’re having trouble, utilize campus services, including study sessions, free tutoring, and resource centers.
