From food and hygiene items to professional work attire, the university has several places on campus where Husker students can pick up free resources.
Husker Pantry
Nearly 1 in 3 students on our campus worry about not having enough food until they get money to buy more. The Husker Pantry provides one-stop locations to assist Husker students with free food and hygiene items and to connect with university and community resources related to food and shelter insecurity. Bring your NCard as verification and a bag or box to carry your items.
Career Closet
Operated by the Alpha Delta Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi, the Career Closet provides gently used professional dress items for all University of Nebraska-Lincoln students (limit three dress items). You can find suits, ties, skirts, dress pants, blouses and more to make your best impression—whether that’s at an interview, internship or career fair. The closet is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; bring your NCard.
Women’s Center and LGBTQA+ Center
Through the Women’s Center and LGBTQA+ Center, you can access of safer sex resources on campus. There are various locations on both City and East Campus for you to pick up safer sex kits and kits with additional contents are also available upon request.
University Health Center
You may be aware of some of the health center’s resources covered by student fees, yet they offer additional resources you can pick up depending on your needs. In addition to single doses of ibuprofen, acetaminophen and antacid available at the pharmacy, enrolled students can also get Cold Care Kits free of charge.
Lavender Closet
The Lavender Closet provides you with free and discreet access to identity-affirming clothing and accessories. Accessible during the LGBTQA+ Center’s open hours, there are also gender-neutral restrooms on the third floor for you to try items on if desired. Stop by the center to request access to the space for donating or picking out clothes.
