The park has long been regarded as one of the few remaining undisturbed areas of Utah that has undergone geological shaping from the mighty Colorado River. High stunning buttes and deep shaped canyons offer the hiker a diversity of wildlife, plant growth, and climate. Eli Howards Surf Break Overnights are structured surfing adventures designed to provide five days of quality surfing instruction, exploratory activities and four nights of memorable beach camping experiences. During each day of surf camp, students will receive a 2 hour session of quality surfing instruction. Students will spend their camp days learning important water safety skills, surfing fundamentals, and exploring the California State Parks coastal environments with daily surf topics. Students will also have numerous opportunities to relax and enjoy other outdoor activities such as body surfing, daily yoga/stretching sessions, tidepooling, and other organized beach games. Students are also provided with daily advanced surfing instruction, ocean conservation tips and their choice of themes and excursions in the afternoon. Excursions can include lagoon hikes, natural and cultural history of the California coast, marine exploration, and evolution of surfing culture. Late nights can be spent watching surf movies, having a bonfire, playing games under the kitchen lights, or simply hanging out in the surf lounge to enjoy the days stories and warm drinks.
