The University of Nebraska-Lincoln, NUSAMS (Nebraska University Students Against Modern-Day Slavery) and The Bay, a non-profit organization that provides a safe haven for Lincoln youth are sponsoring the Nebraska Human Trafficking Summit on April 22nd. This event will be held at the University of Nebraska Lincoln City Union Ballroom. Doors open at 9 am. This free event is aimed to help spread awareness of human trafficking in Nebraska.

The keynote speaker at this event will be Kathryn Bolkovac, who was the subject of the film “The Whistleblower.” The Whistleblower is a film highlighting the issues of human sex trafficking, military contractors and one woman’s fight for justice. This film was screened at a United Nations General Assembly, leading to a panel discussion on sexual exploitation.

This is an all day summit, starting with opening remarks at 9:15, followed by Keynote speaker Kathryn Bolkovac. At 11:30, an influential new website will be launched, followed by a short lunch break. In the afternoon we will hear from other subject specialists, followed by a panel discussion, and ending with a screening of The Whistleblower for those interested in seeing it.
