UNL Outdoor Adventures offers exciting summer trips

UNL Outdoor Adventures invites all interested individuals to join one (or all) of the exciting trips offered during the summer trip series. Spots are limited and available on a first come, first serve basis. Sign up at the Outdoor Gear and Bike Shop in the Campus Rec Center. No prior experience required and trips are open to all UNL student and the general public. Instructors will be present during all trips. Payment plans available for most trips.


WHITE RIM TRAIL (UTAH)
MOUNTAIN BIKE TOUR: May 7-14

$495 UNL student/CREC member; $545 general public
Includes: bike and gear, transportation, trip insurance, permits, instructors, and meals.

The famous 100-mile route of Utah’s Canyonlands National Park's White Rim Trail is considered one of the world's great multi-day rides, taking riders into the remote depths of sandstone canyons carved by the mighty Colorado and Green Rivers. Sandstone arches, Indian ruins, towers, buttes, and unbelievable sunsets are all along the way. This tour will be supported by a vehicle to carry all food and camping equipment - allowing riders to enjoy the freedom of 2-wheels to the fullest. Evenings will be spent under the starry Utah sky, resting for another beautiful day of cycling.


BOUNDARY WATERS (MINNESOTA) CANOEING: MAY 21-28

$495 UNL student/CREC member; $545 general public
Includes: canoes and gear, transportation, trip insurance, permits, instructors, and meals.

With over 1,500 miles of canoe routes, nearly 2,200 designated campsites and more than 1,000 lakes and streams awaiting, the Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota offers a canoe paddling tour experience like no other. Participants will hone their paddling skills, cook unbelievable meals, camp in pristine wilderness locations and learn techniques to thrive in a backcountry environment.


GRAND TETON N.P. (WYOMING) BACPACKING: JULY 23-30

$455 UNL student/CREC member; $495 general public
Includes: gear, transportation, trip insurance, permits, instructors, and meals.

Grand Teton National Park is one of the most scenic protected areas in the United States. This geologic wonder is filled with stunning mountain vistas and diverse wildlife populations. Towering more than one mile above the Jackson Hole Valley, the Grand Teton rises to 13,770 feet. The expedition will take hikers directly behind the mountain range via the Teton Crest Trail, where they will encounter alpine lakes, deep canyons, and cascading waterfalls. This trip promises to provide an awesome experience amongst the beauty and wilderness of the rugged mountain landscape.

GREEN MOUNTAIN (VERMONT)
INN-TO-INN BIKE TOUR: JULY 30-August 6

$950 UNL student/CREC member; $1100 general public
Includes: gear, trip insurance, permits, instructors, and meals. Transportation to/from Vermont is not included.

This fully-supported bike tour will complete a 350-mile loop, traversing rolling mountains, passing through fertile river valleys and visiting some of Vermont’s most picturesque villages. The tour begins by meeting up with the trip leaders and fellow travelers in the lively college town of Burlington. While this is Vermont’s largest city, it is anything but impersonal. In fact, no other state’s largest city is smaller than Burlington. Riders will be sure to explore the quaint streets, shops, and eateries of Burlington’s historic Church Street Market Place before embarking on the bike tour loop heading north along the shores of Lake Champlain, the nation’s sixth largest freshwater lake.
