In an effort to promote safe bicycle riding and foster community among cyclists, UNL Campus Recreation will offer several free bicycle opportunities for UNL students this Fall.

SMART CYCLING
Participants will learn how to use a bicycle with confidence and competence for pleasure, utility and sport under various highway, climate, terrain and traffic conditions. Class time is spent on the bike doing drills to build bike handling skills and riding on the street as a part of traffic. Participants should pass an online test prior to class start. Two Smart Cycling classes are offered this spring – Aug. 30 and Sept. 5. Classes are held 4-8 p.m. and meet at the Outdoor Adventures. Classes are free for UNL students and Campus Rec members and $30 for General Public.

ICE CREAM RIDES
Ice cream rides are fun, casuals rides for students to get to know each other and learn more about bicycling in Lincoln and the Outdoor Adventures program. Remaining dates for this Fall are 5:30-7:30 p.m. Aug. 29, Sept. 5 and Sept. 12.Students meet at the Outdoor Adventure Center and ride to a local ice cream shop for a free treat. Bike helmet and bike rental are included, but space is limited so participants are encouraged to register early. Students are allowed to enroll in one free ride per semester.

• Sub24 Bike Tour - Sept. 9-10
• Wilderness Park Mountain Biking - Sept. 27
• Katy Trail Bike Tour - Oct. 13-17
