Free graduate courses for OPS mathematics teachers

Thanks to the NebraskaMATH OPS Teacher Leader Academy that is being funded by the Sherwood and Lozier foundations, OPS mathematics teachers have a unique opportunity to pursue graduate education at no cost to them. We want to bring to your attention to four mathematics classes in Omaha and two new science courses in Lincoln for middle-level and secondary teachers:

Math 810T (Class # 3056), June 6-10, 8 a.m. – noon, Algebra for Algebra Teachers (class held in Omaha)

EDPS 991 (Class # 12440, permission code needed), June 6-10, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m., Cognition and Motivation (class held in Omaha)

Math 804T (Class # 12478), July 11-15, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Experimentation, Conjecture and Reasoning (class held in Omaha)

TEAC 880E (Class # 4751), July 18-22, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Teaching with Technology (class held in Omaha)

BIOS 897 (Class # 12483), June 27-July 1, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Ecology and Evolution of Arachnids for Educators (class held in Lincoln)

TEAC 924D (Class # 12474), July 18-22, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Seminar in the Curriculum and Teaching of Secondary Science, Science Inquiry and Problem-Based Learning (PBL) (class held in Lincoln)

Sherwood-Lozier Fellowships make it possible for OPS teachers to take these courses at no cost for tuition or fees. Lunch will be provided for participants. These courses count toward a master’s degree from UNL.
