What is Vietnam like 43 years after the fall of Saigon?

Vietnam, past, present and future
Vietnam, past, present and future

In the last 43 years, Vietnam has undergone a profound change since the North and South unified. America, for example, has become one of its largest trading partners! Nancy Hope, coordinator of the Kansas Consortium of Teaching about Asia, returns to Lincoln to give us a new look at this culturally rich nation as it redefines itself in the 21st century. We will explore Vietnam’s regional differences, its history and traditions, the challenges the global economy and environment pose for its people today, and why Americans should care.

Nancy Hope holds master’s degrees in education, fine arts and Asian art history. She lived in Japan for nearly nine years, first as a U.S. Naval officer and then as a kimono designer.
