Students, faculty, staff, friends, and supporters of the University of Nebraska are invited to the third annual “I Love NU” Day from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 10 at the Nebraska State Capitol.

The event is an opportunity for individuals to show support for the university and to visit with state senators about the work and impact of NU’s campuses. All members of the public are welcome.

As the largest campus in the University of Nebraska system, we would love to see a significant representation of UNL students at the Capitol on March 10th. Parents and families can encourage their students to attend “I Love NU” Day, as well as attend themselves.

The role of students is fundamental to "I Love NU" Day. The Legislature plays a vital part in the lives of students as it provides a significant portion of the university’s budget, including the funding of scholarships for many students. There are no better advocates for students than themselves. Senators love the chance to connect and interact with students, and the personal experiences students are able to share are the single most effective form of advocacy.

What to Expect
The day will begin with welcoming remarks from President Ted Carter, in Hearing Room 1525 on the first floor of the Capitol. Attendees will gather in the legislative chamber balcony to be recognized by the Legislature and then will have time to speak with senators in the Rotunda, engage with other university supporters or listen to legislative debate.

A complete schedule is available on the “I Love NU” Day Facebook page. Those who plan to attend may RSVP here. UNL students will meet on the Union Plaza to walk over to the Capitol as a group, departing at 1:10 p.m. There also is a StarTran bus route that runs from the Memorial Stadium loop to the State Capitol. Buses will depart at 12:55 p.m. and 1:10 p.m. Students on East Campus are encouraged to take the bus to City Campus, where they can depart for the Capitol with other UNL students.
