Throughout the academic year, your Husker student may find they need help reviewing course material or getting questions answered outside of class. With the College of Business tutoring program, students can connect with trained peers to receive that assistance at no cost and at times that work for their schedule. These free services are open to students of any major taking business classes.

After scheduling an appointment via the Teaching and Learning Center website at their convenience, students meet tutors in the Teaching and Learning Center (HLH 014) or via Zoom. In addition to individual appointments, many courses offer weekly review sessions to discuss the topics covered in class that week or to prepare for the next exam. Veteran economics tutor Justin Ho leads one of these weekly review sessions.

“Classes are often taught in lecture form as the professor conveys information to a wide audience. During the review sessions I lead, I introduce different active learning opportunities, incorporating team activities and group discussions. This, I believe, promotes the essence of college life, where networking, conversation and live participation happen and expand upon traditional classroom learning," he said.

Many students find after working with a tutor that it becomes an integral part of their learning experience for business courses. Eleanor Dunning, a junior business administration major, visits the tutors frequently.

Dunning said, “The College of Business would not be the same without these tutors. I feel better and more confident about my academics each time I walk out of a tutoring session, and that keeps me coming back.”

With more than 30 tutors covering over 30 business courses, the tutoring program serves a wealth of students during fall, spring and summer sessions.
