Summer is a great time for students to relax after a grueling academic year. It is also a great time to study abroad and experience another culture while earning course credits. The University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Business Administration offers six study abroad experiences including: Nebraska at Oxford in England; Senshu University in Japan; the Consortium of Universities for International Studies (CIMBA) at the International University in Italy; Xi’an Jiaotong University in China; the France Business School – School of Business and Management in France; and Brazil. If one of these options is not what you are looking for, check with Education Abroad for more options and ways to tailor your experience.

Bailey Fairchild, a junior management major from Lincoln, Nebraska, left for Brazil on Wednesday, May 13 with 22 UNL students and two faculty advisors. She will spend three weeks exploring southern Brazil and experience the cultural and business aspects of the country. She is currently blogging about her experiences at: http://bit.ly/BrazilBlog2015.

“The idea of leaving the country, my family, my friends and my job for three weeks didn’t seem real until I arrived at the airport,” Fairchild said. “I’m definitely excited to go and experience something completely different from anything I’ve done before. I’m ready for my Brazilian adventure.”

Brianne Steffensmeier from Bellevue, Nebraska, graduated in May with degrees in marketing and business administration. She also participated in the Nebraska at Oxford program in the summer of 2014 which was one of her best experiences at UNL. She traveled across Europe with three friends before taking classes at the prestigious university and shared her experiences via a blog on the CBA website. “I’ve been incredibly fortunate to participate in a ton of different campus and community activities while at UNL,” Steffensmeier said. “I never passed up an opportunity to take three steps outside my comfort zone and challenge myself. A study abroad experience is the ultimate self-challenge experience and one I do not regret one bit.”

Kevin Thor, a senior management and communication studies double major from Stanton, Nebraska, enrolled in an entirely different type of education abroad experience. In the fall of 2013, he participated in the Semester at Sea program which fulfilled his goal of traveling the world.

“I love to travel and it was also important for me to have a study abroad experience while at UNL,” Thor said. “Studying abroad will open up opportunities for me big time. I was given the chance to learn about different cultures and grow as a person. It will give me an edge when I interview for a job.”
