New event offers insight into nonprofit careers

Students can look at unique career opportunities from nonprofits.
Students can look at unique career opportunities from nonprofits.

What does a career in the nonprofit world look like? How does one get into it? What is available locally? If your student has considered a career with nonprofit organizations, direct them to the upcoming Meet the Nonprofits event presented by Career Services. The event will provide insight into the working world of nonprofits and answer students’ specific career-related questions while connecting them with professionals from a variety of nonprofit organizations. From providing direct service to a community, championing the arts, to working to solve global issues, this career path can be dynamic and rewarding. It is, however, less familiar to students than most careers, and traditional job fairs don’t always show them all of this path’s possibilities.

As nonprofits take on many forms and functions, students from all majors can benefit from this event. Unlike career fairs, suits and resumes are not expected at Meet the Nonprofits. Students can simply look forward to gaining practical career information and having some great conversations. Meet the Nonprofits will be held on April 2 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Union Ballroom.
