Tim Creger, NDA Pesticide/Fertilizer Program Manager, shared the linked announcement (https://unl.box.com/s/0hyqv785zqxkv4opfk12qdnztqf8rcgl) regarding Corteva AgriScience and its decision to discontinue sales of the dicamba product FeXapan®. It is an interesting read, giving a brief review of the RUP dicamba lawsuits, registration cancellations, and new product registrations, along with FAQs. One highlight from the Feb. 2021 article, which was distributed nationally:
If a U.S. farmer is currently in possession of FeXapan® herbicide, can the product be used? No. The FeXapan® herbicide registration was cancelled on June 8, 2020, and we have not yet received a new federal registration. Further, even if we had the new registration, the label requirements have changed and FeXapan® herbicide does not have state authorization [in any state]. Any product in a farmer’s possession must be disposed of according to state and local laws, as it is unregistered.
In Nebraska, NDA encourages people to return stocks of 2019 and 2020 FeXapan® products to their dealer. If they get no response or assistance, they should contact NDA at 402-471-6882 for information on how to proceed. Growers should not just leave FeXapan® in their storage areas indefinitely. The company is covering the cost of return, but might not if growers wait too long to return the product.
