The Nebraska Ambassadors Forum will take place on Tuesday, October 28, from 12:30–2:00 p.m. in the Swanson Auditorium, Nebraska Union. The event is free and open to the public (registration: https://go.unl.edu/ambassadorsforum2025).
This year’s theme, “Diplomacy: Changing Fundamentally or Just Revolving,” invites participants to consider whether recent shifts in U.S. foreign policy mark a true transformation or a return to earlier traditions in American diplomacy.
Moderated by Ambassador Ronald E. Neumann (former U.S. Ambassador to Algeria, Bahrain, and Afghanistan), the forum will feature Ambassador Kathleen Doherty, Ambassador Philip T. Reeker, and Honorable Susan Reichle, former Counselor to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Together, they will discuss how U.S. diplomacy is evolving in response to global challenges, shifting alliances, and emerging priorities.
We’ll also host a Global Café: Coffee with Ambassadors immediately following the forum, from 2:30–3:30 p.m. in the Louise Pound Hall Atrium. This informal conversation gives students the chance to hear more about the ambassadors’ career paths and learn what a career in diplomacy or international service might look like in practice.
