As a result, the moral reasoning embedded in certain legal discussions often reflects the intersection of biblically based ideas and public policy.

In this lecture, Dr. Joel Kemp examines how the 2023 SFFA decision continues this trend of drawing on biblical concept Continue reading…

Lunch and Learn About Ukraine Russia War with Volodymyr Maliarevych

Please join the UNL Political Science Department for a Lunch and Learn Program with UNL Sophomore Political Science Major Volodymyr Maliarevych to hear about his person experience with the Ukraine-Russian war.

Join us on Wednesday, March 11th at 11:30 am in Oldfather Room 538 to hear Volodymyr’s first-hand account of the war, and his impressions from his visit back to Ukraine this past winter. This Lunch and Learn is open to Political Science majors and faculty only. Pizza will be provided. Please complete this form so we can have plenty of food for everyone. RSVP Here

Volodymyr was born and raised in Ukraine, where he completed high school and was preparing to enroll in a Ukrainian university when Russia’s full-scale invasion changed his life completely. When the war began, his father immediately joined the military (had no military experience before), and his family was forced to leave their home. He, his mother, and sister relocated to Germany, then spent several months near the Welsh border, and later moved to London, where he completed his secondary education. Eventually, he moved to the United States to continue my academic journey at UNL.

Volodymyr says “like every Ukrainian, my life has been deeply shaped by the war. The past four years have been filled with challenges, displacement, resilience, and profound personal growth.”

2026 Forced Migration and Resettlement Community Partnership Symposium on March 30, 2026, at UNL’s City Campus Nebraska Union

2026 Forced Migration and Resettlement Community Partnership Symposium on March 30, 2026, at UNL’s City Campus Nebraska Union, a one-day convening focused on strengthening collaboration, sharing resources, and building practical connections among those working on migration and resettlement issues across Nebraska.

The symposium is designed as a continuation of our 2025 Symposium. Based on feedback from last year, we listened carefully and intentionally redesigned the symposium as a one-day gathering, making it easier for participants from across the state to attend while still creating meaningful space for connection, learning, and collaboration.

Building from last year’s findings, this year’s gathering emphasizes bringing together people and organizations from across Nebraska who are grappling with similar challenges, creating opportunities to share ideas, surface practical approaches, and strengthen connections that can be sustained beyond the event.

We’d like to personally invite you to participate and would greatly appreciate your help in sharing this registration with colleagues, students, and partners who may be interested. The symposium will bring together community organizations, service providers, educators, researchers, and students for a day that prioritizes meaningful exchange and actionable connections.

Highlights of the 2026 symposium include:
• Collaborative working sessions that bring participants from across Nebraska together to share ideas, practical approaches to current challenges, and opportunities for partnership.
• Dedicated time and shared tools for resource-sharing and connection-building, resulting in a living, shared resource document that participants can use throughout the coming year to stay connected, exchange recommendations, and support one another’s work.

Event Details:
• When: March 30, 2026 (8:00 AM–3:00 PM)
• Where: Centennial Ballroom, UNL City Campus, Lincoln, NE
• Cost: Provided at no cost from generous donations from UNL Department and Colleges (includes meals and refreshments)

Lodging for Out-of-Town Participants:
