Director's Corner

2018
2018

Hello, 2018! Ready or not, here we come…

As the saying goes…“The bad news is time flies. The good news is we are the pilots.” So what will you do with this bright, shiny New Year?

If you’re like 41% of Americans today, you probably made some type of New Year’s resolution. And, according to the Statistic Brain Research Institute, 42% of those resolutions are money-related, typically about making better financial decisions.

Resolution or not, University Procurement Services is here to help you be ready for what’s ahead. Our daily mission is to provide the resources needed to source and procure whatever you need in the most effective manner possible to keep the University’s operations running smoothly.

And whether you’ve worked with Procurement before, or haven’t yet had the opportunity, we’d like to get to know you better and share with you the many ways we can be of service.

This past October, we reached out to the Lincoln campuses with a survey asking for your input about our operations and service levels. In response to survey data and to help educate about our processes, we are coming soon to a campus near you. Beginning in February, we invite you to join us for monthly PED Talks: Procurement Education Discussions that are being scheduled at the City and East Campus Unions. Read more in this newsletter, and we hope to meet you at an upcoming event!

Further, in conjunction with the University’s BRT initiatives, the Procurement Implementation team continues its journey of transformation in 2018 and beyond. Our initiatives are not only directed at reducing current manageable spend in a wide variety of commonly procured goods and services all across the University, but we are also aligning the University’s procurement and accounts payable operations to strengthen the organization across the NU system. These steps will allow us to become better positioned to collaborate and work as one University, and empower our position with our suppliers.

As this New Year begins, we will continue to seek opportunities to connect. I sincerely hope that you will consider this message an open invitation to reach out and let us know how we may be of service.

Happy 2018!
Best,
Maggie
