Sydney Zach started at Procurement Services in August 2018 as the scientific sourcing specialist.
Before coming here, Sydney worked a similar position for two years at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and before that she worked as a researcher at UNMC and the University of Nebraska-Omaha. As a researcher, Sydney focused on protein structure research, as well as studying at an infectious disease lab.
As a scientific sourcing specialist, Sydney is in charge of reviewing and approving daily requisitions and orders. She also oversees the strategic analysis on current or potential suppliers. Sydney’s favorite part of her job is the variety of her day-to-day schedule. No day is exactly like the next, which keeps the job interesting. She also likes being an advocate for the researchers here at UNL, and she has a special place in her heart for these people, as understands what it’s like to be in their shoes.
When asked if she has any tips for suppliers, Sydney had this to say:
“You only need to attach a supplier quote once in the external notes section. If you do this, it will be easier for both you and me.”
When she isn’t at work, Sydney keeps busy with her husband, her 3-year-old son and her two dogs, a couple of chocolate labs named Lily and Raji.
