Healthy Habit of the Month - December

December's Healthy Habit
December's Healthy Habit

For many, December is a time spent heavily with family, friends or both for several different holidays or just time during break from school and work. Many students are returning home from college, and relationships may look different than they did when they left! This month, make an effort to spend intentional quality time with those you love and appreciate and may not see as often.

According to http://www.mentalhealth.org.uk, "People who are more socially connected to family, friends, or their community are happier, physically healthier, and live longer, with fewer mental health problems than people who are less well connected."

Intentional time with others can look different for everyone. Maybe reach out to a friend a couple of weeks before you return home or break starts and set up a time to get coffee or lunch. Or, plan a fun activity with your family to do together. Whatever you end up doing, make an effort to be engaged and invested in this valuable time of reconnection. Humans thrive off of meaningful connections and relationships, and these connections have an immense effect on your mental health and well-being. Stay healthy and happy huskers! Happy holidays!
