When it comes to team building, it’s important to identify what you want your participants to get out of the experience. Are you looking to simply have people get to know each other better, or have them learn to work together as a team to accomplish tasks?
Sometimes the need for team building activities stems from a problem seen throughout the organization, such as lack of productivity or difficulty of cooperation between departments. Determining the outcomes you have for your group, will help you plan and decide which activities are the right fit for the group.
It is also helpful to think about what stage of group development your team finds itself. Are they brand new? Have they been working together for a while? Much like the outcomes, knowing where your group falls on the scale will only help you find the best activities for success.
