The Big Event is UNL's one big day of service. On Saturday, April 8, 2017, the ASUN Student Government will host this event for students to go out and volunteer at job sites in the Lincoln community. Over 3,000 students, faculty and staff are expecting to participate.
The volunteer registration form for students and staff will be open from Friday, Jan. 20, 2017 to Friday, March 17, 2017 (the Friday before spring break) at midnight.
The Big Event Executive Team has been working hard to make this year the BIGGEST and best year yet! They hope to recruit over 3,000 volunteers and serve over 300 private residents and community organizations across Lincoln.
On the day of the event, volunteers will arrive at the City Campus Recreation Center at 8am for breakfast provided by the TBE Exec Team. Following breakfast, volunteer groups will be released to their job sites to work from 9 AM to 1 PM. Afterwards, volunteers will return to the Rec Center for a free lunch provided by the 2017 Big Event Sponsors. 106.3KFRX and KX96.9 will be broadcasting live from the event.
Without the generous donations from local businesses, The Big Event would not be possible. ASUN would like to thank these sponsors for their support. This year, our BIGGEST monetary donors were ASPEN Lincoln - Nebraska Student Housing, PepsiCo., 106.3KFRX and KX96.9, Dr. Juan Franco (Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs) and the UNL Chancellor's Office. These are the current confirmed sponsorships; more monetary and food donors are expected to donate.
