Q12: Learn & Grow

Gallups has a 12 question survey that measures individual's engagement and provides actionable elements that if implemented, lead to greater performance.

Question 12 on the survey says, "This last year, I have had opportunities within my RSO to learn and grow." On average, RSOs in the top quartile of this element score 9% higher on customer engagement and loyalty measures than other RSOs. The most effective RSO Advisors continuously discuss progress and opportunities for growth and development for their RSO officers.

What can you do as an RSO advisor to help your RSO Officers learn and grow? Here are a few helpful methods:
1.) Create an environment at RSO meetings and events that encourage continuous learning. Ideas to implement this could include bringing in guest speakers to RSO meetings or doing site visits/tours.

2.) Help RSO officers create short-term “stretch” goals that motivate them to expand their current knowledge or skill set. Ideas to implement this could include encouraging officers to attend a RSO leadership workshop or serve as a site leader for a community service project.

3.) Invest time in getting to know your RSO officer's career goals and strengths to help match each one with the right opportunities to grow and develop. One way to to implement this could include taking your officers through the HuskerGrow program.
