As RSO Advisors and mentors we know the numerous benefits that come from being a member or an officer of a thriving RSO. However, students often struggle to find the connections between the important work they do within their RSOs and their future career goals. The good news is that there is a program that can help students make those connections: Husker GROW.

Husker GROW (Guided Reflection on Work) is a program designed to help students connect campus employment and leadership experiences to their coursework and career aspirations. It uses brief structured conversations between students and their supervisor or advisor to help make learning from employment or leadership experiences more visible to the students. Since the pilot program in 2016, more than 5,000 students have been involved in the Husker GROW initiative. In 2019, 92 percent of student participants agreed or strongly agreed their student position helped them improve leadership skills, teamwork, communication skills, problem solving skills, interpersonal skills and adaptability.

If you think the Husker GROW program could be useful tool for your RSO membership, we encourage you to check out the Husker GROW website for more information, including future information sessions that are open to any supervisor or advisor.
