In Spring 2021, Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs and Global Studies are teaming up to launch a brand new course to inspire and equip UNL students to become human rights changemakers. This course is open to all UNL students. In this course, students will explore nine of the most pressing and complex human rights challenges we face today, and learn from the examples of inspiring, pathbreaking changemakers who are charting a way forward on these issues. Learning from the examples of these changemakers, students will cultivate the professional skills necessary to make human rights change, including but not limited to strategic communication, online outreach, and public speaking. Students will emerge from the course with a portfolio of work that evidences the skills they’ve cultivated throughout the semester, which they can use to advance their careers as professionals positioned to be human rights changemakers in a diverse array of industries.
