Applications for the second cohort of the Peace Corps Prep program are due Mar. 11 on MyWorld. PC Prep is a unique program that combines targeted coursework and hands-on experiences for students to build the competencies needed to serve as Peace Corps volunteers and work in other international development fields.

Upon successful completion of the program, students receive a special certificate from the Peace Corps. Although completion of PC Prep does not guarantee acceptance as a Peace Corps volunteer, it gives applicants a competitive edge in addition to the professional leadership and intercultural skills they’ve gained.

Why should I apply to PC Prep?
PC Prep is a unique opportunity to build skills that will be helpful no matter where your career takes you, in the Peace Corps and beyond! In addition to the special certificate from Peace Corps, you also get:

  • Develop sector-specific skills in education, health, environment, agriculture, youth in development or community economy development
  • Build your foreign language proficiency
  • Hone your intercultural competency skills with tailored education abroad advising and coaching through the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) assessment
  • Master professional savvy and leadership via exclusive events for PC Prep students and mentorship with returned Peace Corps volunteers
  • Guaranteed scholarship of up to $5,000 for interning or studying abroad in either a country where Peace Corps volunteers have served or on a program that offers intensive Spanish, French or another language spoken in Peace Corps host countries
  • Recognition in campus media outlets and an Honors cord to wear at graduation
If that doesn’t convince you, check out what these current PC Prep students have to say about their experience!

Who can apply to PC Prep?
All undergraduate students in good standing with at least two semesters left are invited to apply for PC Prep. Students from traditionally underrepresented communities are strongly encouraged to apply. International students may complete the Peace Corps Prep program at Nebraska, but applicants to serve in the Peace Corps must be U.S. citizens.
