Sylvia Anne Wilson

Sophomore

My majors are Global Studies and English with minors Japanese and Communication.

I was born in New York and spent my earlier years in Texas. My family moved to Oakland, Nebraska when I was six and I have enjoyed living there up until I came to college.

I chose Global Studies as my major because of my interest in other countries. I feel that Global Studies will lead get me to my future goals and dreams. Some of my favorite classes I have taken for the major are East Asian Civilization and East Modern Asia.

For new Global Studies students, I would suggest that you talk to Emira as soon as possible. The sooner you talk with her the sooner you can become confident that you are heading down the right path and taking the right classes for your future career.

I have not yet studied abroad or gone on an internship but I have applied for the Internship in Senshu Japan. If I don't get it I will apply next semester and try again.

After I graduate I plan on applying for the JET program and for the Peace Corps. I want to gain a lot of experience teaching in foreign counties. After, I hope to get a job in Japan as an English teacher.
