The term dissident is known in connection to anti-communist resistance in Eastern Europe. Nevertheless, in general, the term applies to individuals disagreeing with established religious or political systems, organizations, regimes or beliefs. In contemporary world, many women emerge as dissidents using diverse ways to express their stances to appeal for change. This course will examine vast scope of "early women dissidents", as well as various women activists, artists and women's voices in Europe and Asia at times of emerging grassroots movements initiated by women.
