What is your position at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?
I am a producer with Platte Basin Timelapse.
What drew you to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln?
I came to UNL as an undergraduate student. I had never been to UNL’s campus before my first day as a freshman, but SNR had the degree that I was interested in: Fisheries and Wildlife. I started as a production intern with Platte Basin Timelapse when I was a junior. I graduated and immediately started pursuing a Master of Applied Science with an emphasis in Science Communication. I completed my graduate project with Platte Basin Timelapse and was hired on as a full time story producer after that.
What aspect of working in an educational setting do you enjoy the most?
My favorite aspect of working in an educational setting is the opportunity to learn something new every day alongside the wonderfully brilliant folks that work in the School of Natural Resources.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
One of my greatest achievements would have to be all the close relationships I have gained while working with PBT. I have lifelong friends across the Platte Basin that I would have never met if I had not pursued a career in conservation storytelling.
What is something that most people don’t know about you?
Most people don’t know that I have been charged by a grizzly bear while I was working in Alaska.
What is your life like outside of work?
I am married to my wonderful wife, Callie. We bought a house in the East Campus neighborhood, so I walk to work every day. We have two dogs and love working on our landscaping together. The two of us travel a lot and consider ourselves adventurous– I am also an avid fly fisherman, hunter, and backpacker.
