“From Idea to Startup,” a free workshop for entrepreneurs, will be held July 22-23 at Nebraska Innovation Campus’ Conference Center.

Registration for the two-day event is now open. Its aim is to provide training and networking opportunities, and it will cover a range of topics related to starting a company.

Sessions will cover the practical side of things, including idea validation and funding a startup. They’ll also examine the startup journey from a personal perspective with presentations from university researcher-founders about their journeys, lessons they’ve learned and mistakes they’ve made.

Some sessions in this workshop will be highly interactive and hands-on — you’ll not only learn about entrepreneurial thinking, but you’ll leave the workshop with concrete outputs, such as an Innovation Statement and a draft of a Business Model Canvas.

Because content will vary widely from day one to day two, attendance is strongly encouraged for the entirety of the workshop. The full, detailed agenda will be emailed to registrants prior to the event.

This workshop is open to all university of Nebraska faculty, staff, postdocs, students and community partners. The workshop will be especially helpful for startups based on university intellectual property. However, you do not need to have a current startup idea or IP to attend.

A light breakfast and lunch will be provided each day, and the event will close with a happy hour. Registration ends at 5 p.m. July 12.
