Glow Big Red, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s annual fundraising campaign at https://glowbigred.unl.edu/, starts at noon February 12 and ends at noon February 13, 2025.
“Glow Big Red provides a unique, 24-hour, energy-filled experience each February with the focus on all that is good about the university,” Larkin Powell, director of the School of Natural Resources, said. “We are hoping to engage friends of the School of Natural Resources who can give at least $5 to show their support for our programs and students.”
Featured in this issue of Inside SNR are two of the 399 opportunities to give. Fisheries and wildlife student Logan Greeno discusses the importance of the Husker Bass Anglers club sport https://glowbigred.unl.edu/campaigns/husker-bass-anglers to students like him. Natalia Hagen, another fisheries and wildlife student, discusses cultural experiences and opportunities during college that have helped shape the direction she plans to take for a career. Donors who want to support students like her can give to the Taekwondo Club https://glowbigred.unl.edu/campaigns/taekwondo-club or School of Natural Resources https://glowbigred.unl.edu/campaigns/school-of-natural-resources.
The 24-hour fundraiser benefits Husker colleges and departments, student organizations, athletics and various other programs and resources.
“The ‘small but mighty’ donations from Glow Big Red make possible many of the networking and engagement events for our faculty, staff, and students in the School of Natural Resources such as seminar receptions and our Spring Banquet,” Powell said. “The funds support unique student experiences, such as travel to research conferences and study abroad trips. Our goal each year is to raise $5,000 for our programs. I’d invite folks to watch social media for opportunities to show your enthusiastic support for groups affiliated with our school who will all be vying for attention in this fun event!”
