Calling all faculty! Get the word out about your projects, interests

"Communicator Chat" is a way to share your news with your colleagues, the university community and the public.

"Extra, extra! Read all about it!"

Sound like something you only hear in black and white movies where the paperboy is selling the morning edition on a street corner?

Well, not anymore. That's what people will be saying about you and your news after a sit-down with me, Mekita Rivas, SNR's communications/project associate.

"Communicator Chat" is an internal effort to keep the external world in-the-know about all of the happenings at SNR. While this could mean research projects, grant awards and seminars, it could also mean stories from the classroom, philanthropic activities or trips – academic or not – abroad.

In short, "Communicator Chat" gives faculty the opportunity to fill me in on what they're up to both within and outside SNR. By doing so, we can further familiarize one another with our professional pursuits and personal interests.

While arranging a chat is especially important for new faculty, all faculty members are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible. Those who do not sign up for a chat during the fall semester will be asked to sign up for a time in the spring.

To sign up, simply go to http://go.unl.edu/snrcommunicatorchat. Since this is a SharePoint file, you will be prompted to enter your SharePoint log-in information.

After you log-in, select "Edit Workbook" followed by "Edit in Excel Web App." You can then sign up for a chat date from the remaining available dates. Don't forget to include your contact info and what your chat topic(s) will be.

If you have any questions about the "Communicator Chat" effort, please feel free to direct them to me at mrivas@unl.edu or at 472-6515.
